Tool rumours for Voodoo and Riotfests

A rumour today, by an allegedly good source suggests that Tool are locked in for the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, and the Riotfest in Chicago and Denver. I have no insight into how good this rumour might be, and the dates of the festival are likely within the wine harvest, so treat them with a good dose of salt for now…

MJK related announcement for Aftershock Festival?

The organisers of the Aftershock Festival, held in Sacramento, California on the 22nd and 23rd of October have posted an image of a bottle of Caduceus Anubis 2011 as well as a suggestion that the lineup will drop next Tuesday.  Perhaps they really love Maynard’s wine, or possibly it’s a hint that one of his bands will be included on the bill.

Many of you would be familiar with the rumour that Tool are playing Voodoofest in New Orleans, which happens to be the following weekend.  There is also some speculation that there will be a very short Tool tour with this, and while I have nothing concrete to back it up, I wonder if we’ll see the Aftershock Festival, a couple of Tool shows between California and New Orleans, and then the Voodoofest to wind it all up.

A Perfect Circle added to US festival dates

In case you haven’t been following social media, A Perfect Circle have been added to a couple of festival dates on Eastern USA in May next year including the Carolina Rebellion festival as well as two Florida based festivals – Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville and Fort Rock in For Myers.  Tickets for most of these are already on sale I think!

Acts joining A Perfect Circle on these festivals include Soundgarden, Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Gojira as well as others that appeal to me at least anyway!

We’re expecting more dates to be announced in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Tool to play Governors Ball Music Festival in 2017?

According to Consequence of Sound, Tool will be headlining the Governors Ball Music Festival in NYC June 2017.  I believe there was some expectation this would be A Perfect Circle playing, but they now seem pretty sure it’ll be Tool.

The organisers of the festival have refused to comment saying “The full Governors Ball lineup will be announced early next year, at which point tickets will also go on sale.” so keep this show firmly in the rumours category for now.

Here’s Bjork playing a set at the festival a couple of years back:

Tool to headline Governors Ball in NYC

Turns out the rumours of Tool headlining the Governors Ball in New York were correct with the line up confirmed this week.  Overall it’s an interesting lineup full of acts you wouldn’t typically expect Tool fans to show a lot of interest in.  Despite that, I expect it’d be fun day.

Tickets are already on sale, and it appears only 3-day tickets are a thing for now (which I expect isn’t going down well with everyone).

No word yet on any other Tool shows, but the rumour mill seems to suggest there might be, I haven’t heard much personally though (possibly since I’ve been offline for the last 10 days).

Tool to headline Rock on the Range 2018

Tool have been announced as one of the headline acts of the Rock On The Range festival, held in May 18-20 in Columbus, OH.  The join such luminaries as Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack and Breaking Benjamin.  If that’s not enough to get your juices flowing, also on the lineup are much better (but lesser know acts) Quicksand, Baroness, Code Orange and Power Trip.

Oh, and A Perfect Circle are also playing, presumably not on the same day as Tool.

According to the press kit ‘We have one of the only shows from Tool in 2018’ which suggests to me that we’ll see another few shows, I’d guess in the week or so leading up to the festival.  I have no insight into the scope of the tour, but I’d guess it’ll be a short one.

Tickets are on sale now for the whole weekend.  Single day tickets don’t seem to be available at the moment, but I imagine if it doesn’t sell out will do so closer to the event.

Tool included on Aftershock lineup

There was a leaked lineup for the Aftershock Festival that came out yesterday, will Tool claimed as the headliner. Today we have formal confirmation that Tool will indeed be the final act on Sunday night the 13th of October.

Joining them on the day are such excellent bands as Gojira, Architects, Fu Manchu, The Crystal Method and Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes. Not a bad lineup I gotta say, despite a few cringeworthy acts on the day.

At this point, I think it’s safe to assume that this will be the first of many dates to be announced across the US in the later half of the year. I’d be expecting a more extensive tour around September and October covering all the usual stops in the US and Canada.

Tool Monster Mash Festival in Arizona confirmed

Many of you would have noticed the post on Toolband already (and on other numerous social media sites) that the rumoured Tool show on October 31 at the Monster Mash Music Festival in AZ has been confirmed. Supporting will be Primus and another couple of bands.

Blair notes that there is some important ticket information:

TOOL will be performing at the 2015 MONSTER MASH MUSIC FEST at TEMPE BEACH PARK in TEMPE, ARIZONA on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31 (HALLOWEEN NIGHT). Gates at 3:00 PM.

The first thing that you will need to know is that you CANNOT get tickets for this show via Ticketmaster! Let me repeat this: You CANNOT buy tickets for this Tool performance at Ticketmaster. In order to PURCHASE TICKETS – which go ON SALE on FRIDAY, JUNE 26 at 10:00 AM PST – please click on www.monstermashaz.com

Again, tickets are AVAILABLE (on FRIDAY, JUNE 26 at 10:00 AM) at www.monstermashaz.com
(… and can ALSO be purchased at The Marquee Theatre Box Office, Bookman’s locations, Zia Records stores and Asylum Records in Mesa, Arizona)

Now that you know where to purchase tickets, the second thing that you will want to know is that there are NO 3-DAY INCLUSIVE TICKETS – meaning that if you want to see TOOL on Halloween night, you will NEED to purchase a ticket for SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31 (at www.monstermashaz.com)

Make sure you get the right day or you’ll find yourself singing along to The Old Man Down The Road or In The End.

Blair contacted me not long after the announcement, and wanted you guys to know that this isn’t the curveball (which he contends is nearly finished after so long), and that it’s unlikely to delay the album as some may fear. As I pointed out in the forum at worst the album gets pushed back a month, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t really a big deal. He also hints that it could be just the one show – I’ll follow up with Blair to clarify this.

Update: Blair confirmed to me that there are no other shows planned at this stage. That’s not to say there won’t be, but it appears likely this is a one-off show.
